This descriptive phrase (hilltop castle) may be becoming another name for the site. It is used as such on at least one georeferenced photo currently highlighted in Google Earth and Google Maps. This usage surely derives from a now-defunct listing of archaeological sites posted to the web in the early 2000s by the Demos Tithoreas which has been copied by some travel sites and content farms. That listing was compiled from government decrees like the 1983 designation of the "Κάστρο κοντά στο χωριό Αγία Μαρίνα Λοκρίδος" as a protected archaeological property.
