Described by Strabo as a village (katoikia) about 40 stadia (~6 km) outside Antioch, Daphne today is known as Harbiye, in Turkey's Hatay province. In ancient times, it was home to a sacred grove and sanctuary of Apollo and Artemis, but today there are no visible monumental structures of ancient date.
