Nessana is an ancient site located in the Negev Desert. Established during the Hellenistic period, Nessana has numerous occupational phases including as the site of a Roman military garrison in the fourth century CE. The site flourishes in connection with the Christian pilgrimage route linking the Holy Land to Mount Sinai (sixth and seventh centuries CE).
