Dikov, writing in ArchBulg ca. 2015, notes Strabo's mention (9.5.19) of a kome named Larisa located between Odessos (modern Varna) and Naulochos (modern Obzor): "καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἀριστεροῖς δὲ τοῦ Πόντου κώμη τις καλεῖται Λάρισα μεταξὺ Ναυλόχου καὶ Ὀδησσοῦ πλησίον τῶν ἄκρων τοῦ Αἵμου." The Barrington Atlas treated this Larisa as "unlocated" (BAtlDir p. 345, whence Pleiades 222103: Larisa), but the compilation of the BAtlas pre-dated significant excavation on the St. Athanasius site. Dikov points out the possibility of a connection between the archaeological site and the toponym in Strabo, but is careful to state that "no defining evidence has been found that the fortress on the Cape of St. Athanasius is in fact the fortress [sic] Larissa [sic] described by Strabo."
