Pompeiopolis/Sebaste, in Paphlagonia, was founded under Pompeius in 64 B.C. in the valley of the Amnias river. The ancient site, known today as Zımbıllı Tepesi Höyüğü, is located across the river (modern Gökırmak) from modern Taşköprü in Turkey.
