Ruins of an old town or castle on the tall "Felsberg Egri Kalch" near the mouth of the Halys river that were formerly posited as an identification for Herodotus' "Pteria" (thus RE whence BAtlas 87, which labeled Eğrikale with "Pteria" using a hollow settlement symbol). Pteria is now thought much more probably to be associated with the large 7th/6th century site at Kerkenes Dağı to the southwest, q.v.
