The Port antique de Marseille is in the Jardin des Vestiges, an archaeological park comprising a series of archaeological remains in related to the ancient port of Massalia. Excavation began in 1967, revealing  the ancient quay itself, fortifications (6th c. BCE to 2nd c. BCE), a freshwater basin, funeral terraces (4th c. BCE), and a paved late Roman road (4th c. CE). Discoveries also included a well-preserved boat of the 3rd c. BCE, now in the Marseille History Museum.
