A large historical region of the Eastern Mediterranean. Exact definitions of the region's borders vary, but in general the term "Levant" refers to the eastern littoral of the Mediterranean Sea, comprising the modern countries of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel.

Base map by Ryan M. Horne for Pleiades and the Ancient World Mapping Center (ancient terrain after the Barrington Atlas). Map interaction design and implementation by Sean Gillies, David Glick, Alec Mitchell, and Tom Elliott for Pleiades.
