Emshi tepe is located in Jauzjan Province to the northeast of Shibarghan. Material on the site dates to the Hellenistic, Kushan, and Sassanian/Kushano-Sassanian periods.

Barrington Atlas: BAtlas 98 F2 Emshi tepe

W. Ball observes that this urban site covers approximately 18 ha. and was surrounded by imposing walls with a circumference of 1.5 km. The site was re-built during the Kushan period and ultimately destroyed during the Sassanian period. The Barrington Atlas Directory notes: Emshi tepe, AFG
