The so-called House of Iulia Felix (II, 4, 3) is situated on the south side of the Via dell'Abbondanza, near the Palaestra and the Amphitheater. The estate was formed from two complete insulae that were merged. About one-third of the area was occupied by the house, the remainder by a large garden. Following the AD 62 earthquake the proprietress seems to have leased out portions of the property.

The Montelabate estate of the Gaslini foundation has been investigated by means of both field survey and excavation. This upland area sits astride a frontier zone, one that separates Perugia (Etruria) from Gubbio (Umbria). Simon Stoddart, Maurizio Matteini Chiari, Gabriele Cifani, and other scholars have noted that this ancient frontier zone was in place by the fifth-fourth centuries BC and denotes the differential urbanism practices of Etruscans and Umbrians, respectively.

A Roman settlement located to the immediate southeast of modern Didymoteicho, Greece, Plotinopolis was founded by the Roman emperor Trajan, in honor of his wife Plotina. Roman-era physical culture has been identified at the site, beginning with chance finds in the 1960s and continuing through subsequent scientific excavation.
