- A modern village on the Aegean island of Lesbos. Remains of ancient houses have been noted in the area. Its modern name may preserve an ancient toponym preserved on a late-antique inscription. For these reasons, BAtlas followed Kontes 1978 in identifying it as the general area of a late antique settlement.

- Kavuncu is a modern settlement situated near Van in the southeast of Turkey. Here a cylindrical stone (probably a column base) with an inscription of the Urartian king Minua, son of Išpuini (9/8th century BCE) was found (CTU I A 5-53 B).

- The small village of Babil (now Kebili) is located about 25 km southwest of Cizre, near the Tigris river, directly on the Turkish-Syrian border. The name of the ancient site whose ruins lay beneath the modern village is not known.

- A village in the modern Van Province in southeast Turkey. It is a find place for Urartian inscriptions, and may possibly be identifiable as ancient Arṣuniuni.

- Neolithic site located about 5 km east of the town of Shadad on the edge of the Dasht-i Lut (Lut desert) in southeastern Iran.

- An ancient, fortified oasis settlement in the western Arabian peninsula that has produced archaeological evidence for occupation from prehistoric times to today. It is named "Hibra" in an inscription of Nabonidus, dating to the 6th century BCE, and features as the site of a Mohammedan conquest in the early years of Islam. Recent discoveries nearby of large "desert kites" (putative animal capture structures), neolithic campsites, and megalithic tombs have received significant press and highlight the site's importance at an early date.

- Klisura is a modern Serbian village in which ruins still stand of a large fortress, possibly of the 14th century CE and known today as Koprijan or Kurvingrad. This fortress may have been built atop the remains of a Byzantine and Roman fort or tower; the vicinity may have served as a Roman road station or garrison site.
