- A Roman settlement located to the immediate southeast of modern Didymoteicho, Greece, Plotinopolis was founded by the Roman emperor Trajan, in honor of his wife Plotina. Roman-era physical culture has been identified at the site, beginning with chance finds in the 1960s and continuing through subsequent scientific excavation.
