Kaisaran (Kaissaran, Kayseran Ekece) is a modern mountain village in the mountains east of the Keşiş Gölü ("Priest Lake"), an artificial lake created by Rusa, son of Erimena (probably 8th century BCE). At an elevation of 2,780 m above the village (more than an hour’s difficult ascent) a rock inscription of probably the same ruler was found in the late 19th century. Another rock inscription and a stela of Rusa, son of Erimena have been found in other places in the vicinity of the lake. These are the rock inscriptions situated in Erek Dağ (CTU I A 14-3) and the so-called Keşiş Göl stela (CTU I A 14-1) whose upper part has been found at Gövelek.

A region of northwestern Asia Minor that ancient sources associate with the Mysi, a people who had migrated there from Thrace, probably late in the second millennium BCE. Sources vary on the extent and subdivisions of the region, but in general it seems to have been at least roughly bounded on the north by the Hellespont and Propontis, on the east by the Rhyndacus river (modern Mustafakemalpaşa) and mount Olympus (Ulu Dağ), and on the west either by the Aisepos river (Gönen Çayı) or (if the Troad is taken to be part of Mysia) the Aegean Sea.

Remnants of an ancient settlement have been identified south and east of the modern beach village of Nopigeia on Crete that date to at least the 5th century BCE. The church of Agios Georgios Nopigion, which is located between Nopigia and Drapania, was built on the remains of a Roman-era bath complex. A single, late source (Aelian) provides the name Mithymna, which may have belonged to this settlement. Bronze Age remains have also been identified in the vicinity.

A mortuary temple located in the Theban Necropolis that was dedicated to one Amenhotep, son of Hapu, an official in the court of the 18th Dynasty pharaoh Amenhotep III. Numerous roles are attributed to Amenhotep, son of Hapu, including those of priest, scribe, and architect. Likely he received special dispensation for the construction of the mortuary temple.

From Hesiod onward, Greek writers locate the Nemean lion in a cave or ravine in this mountain and explain the mountain's name ("perforated") from being split by the ravine. Wiseman (in PECS, whence ToposText) identifies the Tretos as "the mountain on the W side of the main road between Kleonaia-Corinthia and Argolis" and the ravine as the modern Dervenakia pass. Camp in BAtlas silently suppresses this view, and mentioning "Tretos" only in a list of "unlocated" features in the map-by-map directory where we cites only Pausanias and glosses: "Corinthia-Argolis: pass, road".
