Last week we published 9 new place resources. In addition, 74 existing place resources were updated.

New Place Resources

  • A large-scale Minoan dyemaking and dying establishment overlooking the modern Bay of Mirobello at Pacheia Ammos in Lasithi, Crete.

  • Α small Μinoan rock shelter of uncertain function discovered alongside a highway on the modern Alatzomouri hill just west of Pacheia Ammos in Lisotho, east Crete. A significant assemblage of broken pottery and tools, all dating to EMIII, were found in the shelter.

  • Burnswark Hill (287 m above sea level) is located near Ecclefechan in E. Dumfriesshire, Scotland.

  • Maidanetske, Ukraine is the site of two separate Neolithic to Chalcolithic settlements associated with the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture. A 2 ha settlement dating ca. 5000 BCE lies on the outskirts of Maidanetske, Ukraine while another, larger settlement (ca. 3700 BCE) was found west of Maidanetske on the left bank of the Tal'ianki River.

  • Cave in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, 3.5 miles NNE of Panjwai town, with archaeological remains from the Kushan period (100 BCE to 300 CE), Kushano-Sassanian (transition) period (300 to 700 CE), and the Early Islamic period (700 to 1222 CE).

  • Church in Geneva, Switzerland that was originally a Roman Catholic cathedral but was converted into a Protestant church during the Reformation. The original church was built in the 4th century but the present building began construction around 1150.

  • Church in Geneva, Switzerland that has existed in some form since the 4th century CE. The 4th century building was followed by a 10th century Romanesque church which was destroyed by fire in the 14th century. The current church was constructed in the 15th century.

  • Trypillia (Obukhiv Raion, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine) was the site of an extensive proto-urban settlement of the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture ca. 4300-4000 BCE.
