Acherusia Palus, now known as Lago del Fusaro or Lake Fusaro, is a lake located in the Italian community of Bacoli. The acropolis of Cumae is about 1.5 km from the lakeshore. It was allied with Rome in the First Macedonian War (215-205 BCE), but later was opposed to the republic in Rome's war against Antiochos (192–188 BCE). After Rome's victory in 188, the Aetolian League was fully subordinate to Rome.

These formal gardens occupied what had previously been the agger of the Servian walls and the adjacent necropolis that had an unsavory reputation. Following the death of Maecenas, the gardens became imperial property.

From the first half of the second millennium BC until 614 BC, there was a ziggurat, a temple-tower, at Assur dedicated to the god Aššur (and his manifestation as the god Enlil). This sacred building, which went by the Sumerian name Earattakišarra (”House, Mountain/Noblest of the Universe”) in the first millennium BC and referred to as the “great ziggurat” in Middle Assyrian royal inscriptions, was likely founded by the Old Assyrian ruler Šamšī-Adad I (ca. 1808–1776 BC).

The modern name for a temple built in the south-eastern corner of the Athenian Agora next to the Panathenaic Way in the early second century AD, using material from the Temple of Athena at Sounion. A colossal cult statue of a female deity was located inside. It was demolished in the late third century AD and used as building material for the Post-Herulian Wall.
