Last Week in Pleiades (19-26 February 2024)

A terrain map with orange markers indicating updates and pink circles indicating new place resources. Most cluster around the central Mediterranean, but some lie as far north as the British Isles, south as the middle Nile, and east as northern India.

New Place Resources

    Creators: Chris de Lisle
    Contributors: Tom Elliott
  • The Cave of Apollo was a shrine on the north slope of the Acropolis, dedicated to Apollo Hypakraios / hypo Akrais / hypo Makrais ("Apollo under the High Rocks" / "under the Long Rocks"). According to Euripides' Ion, it was the birthplace of Ion, progenitor of the Ionians.
    Creators: Chris de Lisle
Contributors: Brady Kiesling; Jeffrey Becker; Tom Elliott
  • Gymnasium and centre of the ephebate at Athens from the late 2nd century BC until at least the mid-3rd century AD. It is thought to have been located to the east of the Tower of the Winds.

  • The Elmalı Museum's 2011 discovery of a rock-cut relief and many broken stelai near the fountain known as Sarı Mehmet Çeşmesi, in the Yukarıovacık Yayla (plateau), on the western slopes of Temrencik Tepe, on the border between the territory of ancient Choma and Oinoanda, points to the existence of a spring sanctuary of Leto, her children Apollo and Artemis (the Letoids), and perhaps also 9 nymphs.
    Creators: Noah Kaye
    Contributors: Tom Elliott
  • An open air sanctuary in Athens, dedicated to the People (Demos) of Athens and the Graces (Charites), located between the Dipylon Gate and the Agora. Archaeological remains were partially destroyed during construction of the Athens-Piraeus railway
